Bredo 0.0.0, released not yet (build 0).

Download Bredo 0.0.0

A 0 MB zip. Free for the first 500 clips it copies in; $79 once at launch after that.

What it needs

  • macOS 26 or later. Bredo uses frameworks that do not exist on earlier versions, so it will not launch on one.
  • An Apple Silicon Mac — an M-series machine. The picture and speech models run on the Neural Engine, and there is no Intel build.
  • Room on a drive you choose. Bredo keeps its catalogue, its frames and its small offline copies in Application Support; your footage stays where you put it.

The checksum of this download

SHA-256 of the zip above:

0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

Check it yourself before you open it:

shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/Bredo-0.0.0-0.zip

The button above goes through api.bredo.app/dl/…, which adds one to a count of downloads for this version today and sends you straight on to the file. Nothing about you is recorded — not your address, not your browser. What this site records.

This is published so you can tell that the file you have is the file that was built. It is not the thing that makes Bredo safe to open — Apple's notarisation is, and macOS checks that for you whether or not you check this.

Release notes for this version · the full history.

The first run

Bredo is signed with a Developer ID certificate and notarised by Apple, so it opens the way any app from the Mac App Store opens: drag Bredo.app out of the zip into Applications and double-click it. There is no Control-click, no “unidentified developer” dialog and nothing to allow in System Settings. If you are ever told there is, you did not get this file from here.

The first time it runs, Bredo asks for access to the folders and drives you point it at, and nothing else. It does not ask for an account, and it never uploads your footage.

Without a licence Bredo copies in 500 clips, with every check, report and export working. Indexing and searching footage you already have does not count towards the 500. When the trial ends nothing is locked: your library stays browsable, playable and exportable.

Entering a licence key. Open Bredo → Settings → Licence, paste the key from your receipt email, and choose Use This Licence. It is checked on your Mac: no sign-in, no activation server, and Bredo does not count your machines. More about licence keys, including what to do if the email never arrived and how to move a licence to another Mac.

Updates

Bredo checks this feed for updates when you ask it to, from Bredo → Check for Updates…, or once a day if you turn that on in Settings. Every update is signed with a key Bredo carries, so an update that did not come from us is refused rather than installed. Updates through Bredo 1.x are included in the price.
